The Newcastle North constituency

Newcastle upon Tyne North is geographically the largest constituency within the city, and covers a diverse mixture of urban and rural neighbourhoods throughout Newcastle’s North and West.

Newcastle International Airport, Newcastle Racecourse, Newcastle Falcons’ Kingston Park stadium, and a varied range of businesses and organisations are located within an area that is home to around 68,000 registered voters.

The constituency is formed of the pre-2018 local government wards of Castle, Denton, East Gosforth, Fawdon, Lemington, Newburn, Parklands, Westerhope and Woolsington.

Registering to vote

We know now that we have a General Election taking place on 12 December 2019. I want everyone who’s eligible to vote at this General Election to be able to do.

For the first time since 1923, the Tories have decided to call a General Election in December. For Newcastle this likely means some cold, dark and wet nights.

To vote in this election, you must be on the Electoral Register by Tuesday 26 November.

You can register to vote online via this website:

If you will be away on 8th June, or would just like to vote by post rather than at the polling station, the deadline for applying for a postal vote is 5pm on 26  November and you can access the form at

Please contact Newcastle City Council’s electoral services department to check whether you are registered – or if you would like to apply for a postal vote – via [email protected] or 0191 278 7878.
