We’re now in the final week of this crucial election campaign.
Thank you all for your support over the last few weeks – it really has been amazing – but we need one final push over the next few days to reach as many voters as we can.
There are leaflets to deliver all across the constituency to ensure as many people as possible remember to vote and we’re grateful for any help you can give in the run up to polling day and the day itself to make sure Newcastle North stays Labour.
If you want to get involved, please e-mail [email protected] or ring 07926056995.
We need to have the biggest team possible helping out, so please come and join us for the final push!
Really honoured to have the support of Dr Hari Shukla CBE, former Director of the Tyne & Wear Racial Equality Council, in this election. Hari is a tireless equality campaigner & community champion who has lived in the North East for many years. #GE2019 #VoteLabour12December
TV star Ross Kemp has come to Newcastle to support Catherine McKinnell in her campaign for re-election as Labour Member of Parliament for Newcastle North. Ross’ visit was covered by the Chronicle.
Kemp, who played Grant Mitchell in the BBC soap Eastenders and is an award-winning journalist, joined Catherine at D2 Youth Zone in Newbiggin Hall before chatting to parents on the school run at Farne Primary School.
The actor – who is a long time Labour supporter – urged people to back Catherine next Thursday December 12th in what he called “probably the most important election in generations”.
Ross Kemp said:
“I worry very much for the future of my country and the future of my children and that’s why I am in the North East backing strong, moderate, intelligent candidates like Catherine.
“I enjoyed visiting D2 and chatting and taking photos with parents at Farne Primary School. We talked about the impact of school budget cuts and the work Catherine has done to fight against them in Parliament.
“This is probably the most important election in generations and whatever the outcome, you are going to need a strong representative to stick up for local communities. Catherine is Newcastle through and through, and I want people to focus to her and what she has done for the community and what she will carry on doing if she is re-elected.
I would urge everyone to turn out and support Catherine and her record of putting local people first, fighting for our NHS, for jobs and for investment in Newcastle on December 12th “
“It was brilliant having Ross visit Newcastle North- he’s been a long-time Labour supporter and I am very grateful for his endorsement.
“We took Ross along to D2 Youth Zone to see some of the great quality youth work going on and it was great to have the chance to chat to parents at Farne Primary School – an absolutely brilliant school that I regularly visited. Ross was very popular!
As the only candidate at this election that lives in the constituency, I’m determined to carry on putting local people first and fighting on the issues that matter to them.”
